first annual TAWP bridal expo – March 1st!

The Tallahassee Association of Wedding Professionals is proud to announce that on March 1st, 2009, TAWP will introduce Tallahassee to a new kind of bridal experience.  Tallahassee’s leaders in the wedding industry ( yours truly included :) ) are hosting a boutique style bridal expo at the Tallahassee Leon County Civic Center.  This unique expo gives brides a chance not only to gather information about local vendors, but also gain knowledge and experience about the entire wedding planning process!  Unlike other bridal shows, only TAWP certified vendors will be exhibiting at the Expo, so brides will only be presented with top quality vendors.

Each vendor will have a showroom to show brides examples of their work, to give brides the opportunity to stroll through a mall like atmosphere and chat with vendors they are interested in.  With the large format booths, not only will vendors have more area to show what they do, but brides will have a better opportunity to truly “shop”!

Brides will also have an opportunity to learn from local professionals.  TAWP vendors in each category from planners to photographers and travel agents will be presenting informational programs in the center area– teaching couples what to look for in vendors, what questions to ask and what some common mistakes might be.  So, girls, feel free to bring along the fiance, mom, sister or bridesmaid– they can get a mini-course in wedding planning while you shop the aisles!

Brides will also have an opportunity to win doorprizes– from free gifts to discounts on services, the doorprizes are a huge bonus!  Brides tickets are only $9, with each accompanying ticket at only $5!  Doors open at 1:00pm and the show ends at 4:00pm with a bridal fashion show.  Pre-registered brides will also receive FREE parking, so be sure to register online at TAWPExpoRegistration!

awards and congratulations

WeddingWire, the nation’s leading wedding technology company, just announced that Lewis Johnson Photography has won the 2009 Bride’s Choice Awards™!

In its inaugural year, the Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes and honors vendors from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility. This year’s recipients represent the top three percent of WeddingWire’s vendor community, which includes over 100,000 wedding vendors from across the US. That means Lewis Johnson Photography is one of the very best Photographers.

Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds through surveys and reviews.

“We are excited to launch this annual award program to honor high-performing vendors based solely on the experiences of our WeddingWire community,” according to Timothy Chi, WeddingWire’s Chief Executive Officer. “This year’s recipients have set the bar high, exhibiting excellent service and expertise in the wedding industry.”

We would like to thank our past brides (and grooms :) ) for speaking on our behalf and helping us win the 2009 Bride’s Choice Award!

Also we would like to congratulate our fellow Tallahassee Association of Wedding Professional Members (TAWP), on their awards as well.  ( Missy Gunnels Flowers, Myra Jean’s Cakes and Tiki’s Tasties )

change is good

For the past few months, I have been making some improvements to Lewis Johnson Photography.

1: I have launched a new website. I hope you like the new presentation. The gallery structures allows me to not only show my favorites, but to highlight individual client sessions.  What do you think?

2: For my clients, the customer service system has undergone some upgrades. Each client now has a mini-website, where one can continuously enter wedding information, access questionnaires, monitor product deliverables, view contracts and pay invoices online.

3: The blog as undergone minor tweaks.

4: We have made some pricing changes for 2009. We will honor all outstanding pricing information given to perspective clients until Feb 8th.

Please bare with us over the next few days as we resolve the minor glitches.

Have a great weekend!

Next week Previews: Jennifer + Bert’s Wedding and Jennifer & Ryan’s Engagement Story.

I’m back . . .

Well, today ends my ‘mini’ shooting hiatus. About a month ago I had some shoulder surgery and I gave myself the month to recover. The doctor says I can play golf now, which is incredible since I could not play it before the surgery :) . So, what has been happening over the last month of no shooting?

  • The Golden Eagle Wedding and Reception show was a tremendous success. I want to welcome all my new clients. It was a wonderful event and I enjoyed meeting and signing many new brides (and grooms). One of my new couples even won the honeymoon!
  • I have had plenty of time to think of some new locations for engagement shoots around Tallahassee. Hopefully, new locations I have in mind will provide more memorable backgrounds and mood settings for you.
  • I’m officially an Award Winning photographer now :) . I entered a few prints for the first time in the annual print competition of the Tallahassee Professional Photographer Guild. The print below from Thandi and Joshua’s Engagement session scored a “Award of Excellence” aka Honorable Mention. Happy Anniversary also to Thandi and Josh who will celebrate 1 year of marriage next Monday.
  • As of July 1st, we have raised our pricing some. We will honor all outstanding pricing information given to potential clients in May and June until July 31st.
  • Lewis Johnson Photography and Lewis Johnson are now on Facebook. I have decided to give this social networking stuff a try. If you are a member please become a “Fan” or a “Friend” and spread the word.

tampa

Well, the past week has been a busy one. I attended the annual convention of the Digital Wedding Forum and the Imaging USA ‘08 Trade Show. I learned a great deal of new information and techniques. Can’t wait to try some new stuff out on my clients ☺. One of the week’s high points was the Canvas on Demand’s booth at the trade show. Canvas on Demand produces beautiful canvases from prints and they highlighted one of my prints in their booth. Can you spot it below?

Perhaps the highlight of the week was my mentoring session with Melissa of Tirado Photography in Boston, Ma. Having a much more accomplished photographer taking an honest look at your work and business is very helpful. Thank you Melissa for your kind words and insight. I hope our progress and direction in ‘08 continues to impress you.
